Belt Abouts-Free program for 8 to 12 year olds!
Belt Abouts is a no cost program for 8 to 12 year olds to increase buckling up, riding in the back and using a booster seat
Belt Abouts is a school newsletter which models the well-known Scholastic newsletter.  Belt Abouts was developed as an intervention to target 8 to 12 year olds, the most at risk for injury and death from motor vehicle crashes.  Belt Abouts newsletter is designed to educate children about buckling up, by learning about social media and public service announcements. Children will have the opportunity to create their own PSA through storyboards, which are included in the newsletter.
All materials are provided through the Belt Abouts program, including art supplies to develop the PSAs, a water bottle incentive for each child participant and a contest. One winner will be chosen by location to receive a gift card to a local retailer (must complete program by February 28, 2017).  The winner’s PSA will go on to be judged in a statewide contest.
This program is brought to you by the Automotive Safety Program/Safe Kids Indiana, funded through State Farm and the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute.
Program availability dependent on a Child Passenger Safety Technician being available to teach in your area.  To see a sample of the newsletter please click here.Â
