Safe Travel for All Children: Transporting Children with Special Health Care Needs

“Safe Travel for All Children” is designed to serve as an enrichment course for child passenger safety technicians who are interested in learning more about special needs transportation.  The training, which lasts approximately a day and a half, combines classroom lectures and discussions with hands-on exercises.  During the training, participants will be introduced to medical conditions that can impact restraint selection and have the opportunity to investigate and install specialized restraint systems.  The training concludes with a proficiency exam that evaluates the student’s ability to assess appropriate restraints and to demonstrate proper use and installation.

STAC Hybrid Training- Evansville, IN

Safe Travel for All Children HYBRID Training

This will be a PILOT course to test our HYBRID STAC training.

This course is a two-part series:

  • Part 1 – Online – Required to complete modules in IU Expand – Canvas online learning management system. It will focus on passenger vehicles and safety restraints, and will also include self-check assessments and open book exams (completed online between May 1, 2023 – June 12, 2023).
  • Part 2 – In-Person – Required to be in-person with Safe Travel for All Children instructors where you will get hands-on experience, work through case studies, and complete proficiency skills tests on positioning, harnessing, installation, and more. Part 2 will be held on June 15, 2023 at Ascension St. Vincent Evansville.

Dates: Online – May 1, 2023 – June 12, 2023 / In-Person – June 15, 2023

Times: In-Person 8:00 am-5:30 pm CST

Location:  Ascension St. Vincent Evansville, 3700 Washington Ave, Evansville,  IN 47714, Seton Manor Building – specific room TBD.
